PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

D.L. Howell was hired by Montgomery Presbyterian Church to provide Civil Engineering design for a site that they currently occupy at 3260 Morris Road. The church was looking to expand their one story 12,000 S.F. facility on their 38 acre campus situated on a site along Morris Road in Lansdale.

In order to develop the site to meet the school’s requirements DL Howell worked with the attorney to obtain a Conditional Use for expansion of church building on the property. This allowed the church to construct a parking lot and drop-off area the entrance of the proposed building addition of 26,000 S.F. which includes an auditorium, gymnasium and a sanctuary with approximately 704 seats. DL Howell worked with the Township and Conservation District to obtain the permitting necessary to compensate for the increase in impervious coverage while protecting the environmentally sensitive areas. DL Howell also reconfigured the existing stormwater management basin to meet all current stormwater regulations.

The most challenging aspects of this project were obtaining Conditional Use from Worcester Township, NPDES Permitting from the State and County for earth disturbances over 1 acre and relocating excess soil from the excavation of the improvements into earthen berms throughout the property.
