Penn Township
The history of Penn Township begins with a grant of land from King Charles II to William Penn in 1681, but some general information concerning the land before Penn's time is relevant. The first European settlers in the immediate area were Dutch.
The township's earliest inhabitants were known collectively as the Lenni-Lenape Indians, but were mistakenly called Delaware by inhabitants and settlers.
